Did you know that many nutrients present in fruits and vegetables before harvest are largely depleted after just a couple of days?
And since out-of-season produce is often shipped from afar, it may spend days or weeks traveling, all the while losing some of its
key nutrients. That’s why it’s essential to frequent places that prefer seasonal, locally sourced ingredients to create their menus.
From your palate down to your wallet, eating according to the season is a no-brainer. In fact, foods that have to be shipped begin
losing their flavor from the second they are packaged. Not sure what’s in season and want to make a feast at home? Visit your local
Farmer’s Market and pick up whatever catches your eye. There are also plenty of options for Community-Supported Agriculture Farms
and Farm Share Co-Ops you can join; LocalHarvest.org.
