T E X T BY RYA N JA R R E LL Tracing his history with sparkling vintages to the 1700’s, it would be fair to say that there are few as versed in the sparkling wine industry as Foss Marai CEO Carlo Biasiotto. Producing 2.5 million bottles of top-tier sparkling wines a year, and responsible for consecutively conquering some of the industry’s most coveted accolades and awards, it would be easy to assume Foss Marai’s leader’s primary concern would be share values and overheads. But to do so would discount the passion and pride Biasiotto takes in his craft and its legacy. “We are the only remaining 100% family owned spumanti producer in the region,” says Biasiotto. “And that’s a very important factor, because the family represents everything… our origins are deeply rooted in the land, and I put all my heart into this endeavor.” Curious to find out which vintage is his choice tipple?
