Success B al an ce LIFE AUDIT To effectively attract what you’re after in life, the first step is to discern more tactfully how you can allocate your attention and resources in a smarter way. Once that’s done, everything else will fall into place. TEXT BY FRANCESCA CRUZ TIME FOCUS Are hours spent early on in the day on social media really that important? Sure, it might be part of your business marketing strategy and keeping up with distant friends and family, but setting up your day for success and perhaps addressing work emails first should probably be at the top of your list. An early morning routine consisting of meditation, light exercise, setting intentions and having your list of things to tackle written the night before will set you up for productivity. 48 PLAN IT Be clear about what it is you want out of life. Just as with smart financial strategies that involve investing money over time, you’re your greatest asset. What are your strengths? Highlight them to your advantage. What are your weaknesses? How can you gain knowledge and evolve to move past them? Persistence is everything in life, accompanied by the willingness to grow through gained knowledge. Hence the old adage, where there is a will, there is a way. EFFECTIVE NOW Based on the previous steps, you’re now aware of your priorities, you know what you want, and you have a plan. How good are you at executing that plan? Gather your list and add times and dates to it. Apply structure to your schedule — a disciplined and rational approach to getting things done almost always equals success. Impatience is the direct enemy of efficiency. Efficient people set a time for each of their tasks and work to keep the schedule in line. PLAY TIME Tired and overworked people don’t perform well. Effectiveness at the cost of your health is never wise. People-pleasers will sacrifice their own downtime, thinking they are benefitting others, but in truth they detract from productivity. Making time to rest, and allowing for activities that bring a smile to your face and make your heart feel lighter is a recipe for great things. A happy individual is more likely to meet their goals and surpass all expectations.
