Success A L a M o de TREASURED FINDS One person’s rubbish (the Brits even make trash sound fancy) is another’s treasure — how apropos! Are you in the market for savvy fashion finds but panting and worried over staying within a budget? Why of course, this is Miami, where looking the part is as important as being it. That’s where consignment haven The Recycled Closet comes in. T E X T BY F R A N CE S C A C R UZ Just east of The Falls you’ll find a welcoming hello from Jennifer Vosters Kaloti and her college-aged sidekick that mans the front desk at boutique consignment store The Recycled Closet. They love all things fashion and are quick to find you just what you need, for half the price, for that party, date or even a ball — ah, welcome to the crossroads of vintage & thrift. Everything is neatly organized by color and item type. It’s basically a thrift shop for the fabulous, with brands like BCBG, Betsey Johnson, Free People, The French Connection and Prada, among others. They specialize in premium trend labels and everything in the store looks brand spanking new — with an extra spanking on the new. The Recycled Closet opened its doors in 2008, and today has more than 1,000 consigners and counting. You can shop for a unique rehabilitated piece (meaning they poured on the love and gave it new life) or become a consigner yourself. It works in the traditional way; the product must sell in order to receive the 40% earnings. Either way it’s a win-win for the fashion forward, 13843 S. Dixie Hwy.; TheRecycledCloset.com. 36
