FOLLOW YOUR GUT
It’s generally understood that food in its natural, unprocessed state
is healthier overall. It’s helpful to talk to a qualified healthcare
professional — someone with a functional or holistic approach is
ideal — to better understand your needs. Everybody is different;
what’s healthy for another individual may not be optimal for you. A
Voluptuous Life is about connecting to your own personal truth, and
then making decisions coming from a place of clarity. The latest science
confirms health begins in the gut and that about 80% of our immune
system is found there. Eating and drinking fermented foods like raw
sauerkraut, kimchi or kombucha and/or taking probiotics can help
optimize digestion by increasing good gut bacteria and activating HCL
and pepsin. These good bacteria, acids and enzymes also kill unwanted
invaders and can protect us, not only from food-borne illnesses, but
possibly from disease as well. I personally take a digestive enzyme at
every meal so my body can use less energy for digestion and more
energy for other important life-sustaining functions.

Goldenseal is an herb of the
buttercup family — but don’t let
the butter in the name throw
you off. It’s an herbal antibiotic
